Brunswick, 30 November, 2024

Cellist Laura Sheridan.

Tickets are now available for our final  show of the year, at Tempo Rubato in Brunswick on Saturday evening 30 November. (Some people have already bought tix! Thanks.)

Tempo Rubato is mostly a venue for classical music (string quartets, grand piano performances) and occasional electronica music but it has kindly taken up our approach earlier this year about performing there.

Unlike most of our shows, this gig is not part of a writers ‘ festival. Long-time friends of Stereo Stories, Lucia Nardo, who will be re-visiting her timeless tale about her father’s devotion to his wife and to his accordion, and master yarn-spinner Darren ‘Smokie’ Dawson are both onboard.

Annette Trevitt, who was part of our Williamstown show in June, will be joining us for her wryly amusing and also poignant story based on an extract from her book I Had A Father In Karratha. (The song? A quiet Springsteen tune from Darkness On the Edge of Town.)

Annette Trevitt; Williamstown Literary Festival, June 2024.

The concert is an opportunity to do a very intimate, acoustic/unplugged, quiet gig. With a grand piano! The venue seats about 100 people.

We look forward to seeing you there as we take our show in a slightly different direction.

Tickets via Tempo Rubato.

What does ‘Tempo Rubato’ mean? Encyclopeadia Britannica tells us: ‘rubato, (from Italian rubare, “to rob”), in music, subtle rhythmic manipulation and nuance in performance.’ In other words, ‘stolen time’
