At the desk, Balaclava, since 2019
The odometer on our WordPress dashboard quietly ticked over to 800 stories last week when we published Lucia Nardo’s piece about the song The Other Woman, sung by Caro Emerald.
We would not have reached 800 stories (or 700, 600, 500, 400…) without Lucia and dozens of other contributors over the past ten years; writers who are emerging or established, novices taking a chance with their first piece of writing, people putting their trust in our little world.
Thank you to all of you: Stephen A, Zoe K, David O, Maria M, Damian B, Rijn C, Smokie D, Samantha Lee C, Cher F, DR James, Martina M, Victoria M, Michael L, Kate F and another 250 or so writers.
The stories do not appear on the website automatically, in the blink of an eye. They need to be read, sub-edited, uploaded, previewed. Then YouTube clips need to be sourced and coded. And then everything is checked again. And again.
A huge thank you to Louise Maskell who has quietly been working – unpaid – in the background, on the dashboard, since 2019. (As well as writing her own stories, and attending most of our gigs; including travelling to Albury last weekend – a 700m km round trip!)

It’s been great to part of the 800 Vin and team.
I still remember my first encounter of the idea at the Newport Folk Festival (Newport Melbourne) some years back now. I have made some great friends along the way and have listened to songs and music that was not on my radar.
Hope it keeps on going.
Cheers Luke.
Thank you all! It’s truly a beautiful little world you have created. And on a side note – the Nick Cave gig in Geelong was just bloody fabulous!
Thank you Vin for publishing three of my Stereo Stories and for being the highlight of the Willi Lit Fest. I love reading everyone’s stories and for reliving some of the wonderful songs that often I have forgotten. Here’s to the 1,000 milestone!
Like!!! (Button not working for me).
You are all a bunch of utter legends. This site is one of my fave online writing sites ever. Amazing work and kudos to all involved especially V and L Maskell
Love everything that Stereo Stories is. Heartfelt thanks to all of you. I’ve been spreading the word in the west.
Amazing! Way to go, Vin. And kudos Louise!
I wouldn’t say quietly… not after all the music that keep us cheerful on stereostories!
Stereo Stories is uplifting at every turn.
So grateful to have stumbled across this (not so little) wonderful world.
Thanks Vin and team!
Incredible news! A phenomenal achievement. Thank you to all. So proud to have some of my stories in this great place, alongside many writers I admire.
Well done and thank you to everyone involved. Stereo Stories are pure gems.
Thanks for the kind words, Janet. Hope to see you at the Queenscliff gig. (A different kettle of fish to the Geelong gig.)
