Stereo Stories’ big day out at the Newport Bowls Club on Sunday 19 October was a big success. Eighty fans thoroughly enjoyed the eleven Stereo Stories, plus bonus tracks.
Making their Stereo Stories Live debut were writer Rick Kane (Do You Really Want To Hurt Me?), percussionist Anthony Shortte, and the stage banner (made by Stephen Andrew). Julie Merritt, who read Jackson on behalf of writer Rijn Collins (in Iceland!), also sang vocals with Stephen Andrew and Peter Maskell on the two Brian Nankervis stories, We Can Work It Out and Baby I Love Your Way/Show Me The Way.
“The stories were beautifully written – little tweaks and surprises and lots of real emotion, ” said audience member Marianne Lessels, “and the musical performances enhanced the stories as well as being really great to listen to on their own. Looking forward to the next one.”
Many, many thanks to the writers, the band, the backstage crew, the Newport Bowls Club and the Newport Fiddle and Folk Club.
