Monday 14 March 2022, Dja Dja Wurrung Country

This Labour Day,

I find myself walking

while listening

to Uncle Pat

by Ash.

As guitars crash

through headphones,

I find myself

thinking

of this Thursday — St Pat’s Day.

I soon realise

that, if I had an aura,

it may well be

an uncertain shade

of Kelly green—

the colour of my Kelly ancestors

and a distant

relative

of that exquisite eucalyptus

green all around me.
