The Stereo Stories Band returned to Albury in September for its sixth annual show at the lovely Write Around The Murray festival. Such a treat to perform again at what has become our home away from home.
Jock Serong, a regular member of our ensemble, narrated two stories: his own yarn about meeting Marlon Williams and band member Peter Maskell’s story about David Cassidy.
Sydney writer Amal Awad had wanted to be part of a Stereo Stories show since seeing us in Albury in 2019. Amal presented two stories with the band: a reflection on her life as a writer (based on The Cranberries song Dreams) and US writer Cher Finver’s story about family trauma (Innocent Man by Billy Joel).

Cellist Laura Sheridan and accordionist/backing singer Julie Merritt.
Rijn Collins narrated two of her roadtrip stories, one set in Iceland (Crawling King Snake) and one in Jackson. Rijn also narrated a revealing and sensitive story about mental health by band member Martina Medica. (Anthem by Leonard Cohen)
