Stereo Stories’ latest foray onto the stage was a quietly moving one-hour show at Sunshine Library on Saturday afternoon 12 September.

The performance space was the children’s section of the library, so toddlers were coming and going, looking for books or mum or dad, or just wanting to play on the primary-coloured furniture.

The writers for the afternoon were Lucia Nardo, Kerrie Soraghan, and Rijn Collins. MC Vin Maskell read stories by those who couldn’t make it: Darren ‘Smokie’ Dawson, Rick Kane and Queenslander Chris, as well as one of his own. (Hand-written set list below, folks.)

The band weaving expertly  through the stories was Anthony Shortte on percussion and vocals, Peter Maskell on vocals and guitar, Salvatore Romita on piano accordion and Julie Merritt on vocals.

We did eight Stereo Stories, several about fatherhood, and finished with the band stretching out on Highway Of Pain.

Many thanks to the Sunshine Library and the Brimbank Writers & Readers Festival: especially Danielle, Nina, Rachel, Ayden and Con.
