I HEAR MOTION by MODELS Poem by Kevin Densley

I HEAR MOTION by MODELS Poem by Kevin Densley

Ocean Grove: 1983

At the outskirts of Ocean Grove,

headlights on gravel roads

penetrate the darkness.

Sand dunes, rambling salt-bush.

In a car with my first lover,

our relationship fraught, almost over.

Song on the radio.

For a moment, we’re not doomed.

I Hear Motion by Models,

my girlfriend’s favourite band:

Now let it out, shout to the night

And so it goes, I hear motion

Just count it out, shout in your sleep

You say the word, I hear motion…

At the outskirts of Ocean Grove,

headlights on gravel roads

penetrate the darkness.
