Stereo Stories’ branch in Canada is now officially open, thanks to the enthusiasm of Canadian writer, traveller and musician Bill Arnott.
Bill is one of the editors of The Miramichi Reader (TMR), which has been highlighting noteworthy books and authors across Canada from coast to coast to coast since 2015.
Bill brought a new dimension to Stereo Stories when he sent in some jazz poems in mid-2020: YouTube clips of himself narrating the poems while driving the empty streets of Vancouver in lockdown.
He was part of a short Zoom concert we did in late 2021.
Bill’s latest vignettes on our website have been about Tina Turner and Colin Hay, with several more awaiting publication.
In his TMR column Bill’s Beat last week Bill said that Stereo Stories is ‘a mixed-media journal and live concert series from Australia…I encourage you to visit the wellspring of music and literary talent that is Stereo Stories online’.
His first re-posting on the TMR site was his Tina Turner tribute.
TMR will occasionally re-post Bill’s Stereo Stories on its site, and possibly Stereo Stories by other Canadian writers. Hopefully Stereo Stories can reciprocate in some way!
As Bill’s TMR colleague, editor-in-chief James Fisher, said of the connection between the two publications: “I’m willing to dip our collective toes in the broader ocean of ideas.”
Thank you Bill, thank you James.
