After sell out shows this year in Wangaratta (February), Williamstown (June), and Albury (September), the Stereo Stories caravan rolls into Newport on Saturday evening 25 November.
We’ll be doing a two-hour show at the Newport Bowls Club.
Our guest writers include Andy Griffiths, Rijn Collins, Darren ‘Smokie’ Dawson, Nick Gadd and Rick Kane, all backed by The Stereo Stories Band.
This will be Andy Griffiths’ third show with us, after gracing the Stereo Stories stage at the Williamstown Literary Festival in 2016 and 2017. He’ll be channelling his inner-rockstar via a story of his own and one by his good friend, Markus Zusak, author of The Book Thief.
“Stereo Stories is the perfect blend of words, story and music,” says Andy. “The writers’ stories are powerfully supported and enhanced by the amazingly versatile and evocative Stereo Stories band through a whole range of emotions. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry and most importantly, you’ll hear each song with fresh ears and new meaning.”
As for the set list, the choice of stories and songs, here are a few clues.
Stereo Stories thanks the Newport Bowls Club and the Newport Fiddle & Folk Club for their generous support in putting on our final show for the year.
“Stereo Stories has emerged from a melting pot of writers and musicians to become one of the most interesting ways for people to enjoy, understand, and connect with the live performance of songs that have been pivotal in people’s lives, ” said Michael Stewart, president of the Newport Fiddle & Folk Club.
